Where is the New Indonesian Consulate in Tawau?
The Indonesian Consulate in Tawau, Sabah, had been relocated from Jalan Apas to Sin Onn in December 2010. The person who owns the house next to the old consulate bought it and has turned it into a parking lot for his bus company’s buses. So, if you get to the consulate and find a few buses there, you are in the wrong place.

Not many people know where the new one is yet, so please see the following for directions.

Location of Indonesian Consulate in Tawau
The new consulate is in Sin Onn and about 4km from the town centre. Get into a cab and tell the driver to take you to the Wisma Fuji building on Jalan Sin Onn (Sin Onn Road). Most people should know where this is because it is the only tall building in the area. Go pass the building until you reach a roundabout (rotary). Take a left at the roundabout and keep going straight for another 200 metres. The consulate is on the right side of the road, just after a small market.
For your information, you can get a 60 day tourist visa for Indonesia there. The cost is RM170. You need two passport sized photos and they may ask to see either a return ticket or a credit card. Most people can get the visa within 3-4 hours.
UPDATE: Be sure to bring enough cash as they don’t accept credit cards. There’s no ATM machine nearby so be sure to withdraw money in town.
